Colonial Gingerbread

2 cups flour
1 cup molasses
3/4 butter-softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon

In a large bowl mix all ingredients and beat until mixed well. Pour into a 9x9x2 baking pan and bake 350 degrees for one hour. Cool on wire rack and sprinkle with confectioners sugar if desired.
